Nurses with the same actual workload may have different perceptions of their workload. This study involved 51 active nurses in the hospital who had worked for more than three months. The data collection method used a Google Form questionnaire containing the workload perception scale and a job satisfaction scale. Data analysis used a Pearson correlation test. The results of the correlation test indicated a positive relationship between perceived workload and job satisfaction among hospital nurses. This indicates that workload perception does not always negatively affect nurses’ job satisfaction; it can also be a positive factor in increasing it. Workload management is needed to help nurses perceive these demands as challenges and as meaningful work by providing support, empowerment, and recognition of their contributions.
Muhammad Naval, Ninik Setiyowati, Desi Indrawati Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/134 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Single Early Adults’ Quality of Life: Does Social Support Have an Impact? https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/45
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the receipt of social support plays a significant role in the quality of life of single young adults. The hypothesis of this study is that social support plays a role in the quality of life of single young adults. A quantitative, correlational method was chosen to conduct this study. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. The research questionnaire was distributed online to obtain 129 subjects. The criteria set were individuals who were single (never or previously married) and aged 25–40 years. The instruments used in this study were a social support instrument and a quality-of-life instrument, both constructed by the researcher. Simple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis. The results showed that social support significantly influences quality of life among single young adults (p < .001; R-squared = .558). This study can be used in education, as it shows that single individuals can still have a good quality of life with social support.
Silvia Abrilia Arifin, Retno Sulistiyaningsih Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/45 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 The Relationship Between Self-Efficacy and Quarter-Life Crisis Mediated by Loneliness in University Students in Sidoarjo https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/190
The quarter-life crisis is an emotional crisis characterized by feelings of helplessness, self-doubt, fear, and anxiety about the future. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and the quarter-life crisis with loneliness as a mediator among final-year college students in Sidoarjo. A non-experimental correlational quantitative method was used on 342 final-year college students. Data were collected using three instruments: a quarter-life crisis scale (α = .769), a loneliness scale (α = .837), and a self-efficacy scale (α = .819). The results showed that self-efficacy had no direct effect on the quarter-life crisis (β = 0.029, p > .05), but had an indirect effect through the loneliness variable (β = –0.034, p < .05). In addition, loneliness was found to have a positive and significant effect on the quarter-life crisis (β = 0.260, p < .001). Loneliness acted as a full mediator in the relationship between self-efficacy and quarter-life crisis, confirming that psychosocial factors, such as loneliness, play a stronger role than internal factors, such as self-efficacy, in influencing quarter-life crisis among college students.
Dian Ratna Palupi, Zaki Nur Fahmawati Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/190 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Building a Bright Future: Self-Awareness and Hope in School-Adolescent Students’ Decision-Making https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/171
High school students often face situations that require decision-making, but are vulnerable to social pressure and risky behavior. Self-awareness and hope are two important aspects that can influence adolescents’ ability to assess options and consider their consequences. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of self-awareness and hope in student decision-making. Respondents in this study were 200 students aged 14–19 years. Data collection used questionnaires with modified Likert scales, namely the Situational Self-Awareness Scale (SSAS), the Trait Hope Scale (THS), and the Assessing Decision-Making Skills of Youth (ADYS). The data analysis technique used was multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that self-awareness plays a positive role in decision-making, with a regression coefficient of 0.627 and a contribution of 54.9%, and hope also plays a positive role, with a regression coefficient of 0.379 and a contribution of 45.1%. Together, self-awareness and hope account for 38.9% of student decision-making, making them important predictors of students’ ability to make adaptive decisions.
Novita Anjar Sari, Siti Rohmah Nurhayati Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/171 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Predictors of Psychological Well-Being Among Older Adults in Urban Areas: Closeness With Children, Loneliness, and Independence https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/179
The phenomenon of population aging in Indonesia is increasing, especially in urban areas, posing challenges to the psychological well-being of the elderly. One factor that can enhance older adults’ psychological well-being is the closeness of their relationship with their children. This study employed a cross-sectional quantitative research design and hypothesized that each dimension of relationship closeness affects psychological well-being through loneliness, and that independence buffers the impact of loneliness on well-being. Data were collected from 242 older adults living with their children in urban areas using incidental sampling and analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that among the three dimensions of closeness, the strength dimension exerted the strongest influence on psychological well-being, both directly (β = –0.257, p < .001) and indirectly through loneliness (β = –0.064, p < .01). Additionally, the interaction between loneliness and independence was found to significantly affect the psychological well-being of older adults (β = 0.090, p < .05), which means independence as a protective moderator. These findings suggest that older adults individuals’ ability to maintain independence can buffer the negative impact of loneliness on their psychological well-being.
Amya Bunga Fathiyah, Ali Nina Liche Seniati Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/179 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 The Relationship Between Self-Esteem and Quarter-Life Crisis Mediated by Loneliness Among University Students in Sidoarjo https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/191
Quarter-life crisis is a period of uncertainty and fear characterized by negative emotions such as alienation, fear of failure, anxiety, and helplessness. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and quarter-life crisis, mediated by loneliness, among 342 college students in Sidoarjo aged 18–25 years. The researchers proposed two hypotheses: first, there is a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and quarter-life crisis. Second, loneliness mediates the relationship between self-esteem and quarter-life crisis in college students in Sidoarjo. This study used a non-experimental quantitative research design with a correlation method. The instruments used in this study were the quarter life crisis scale (α = .769), the loneliness scale (α = .837), and the self-esteem scale (α = .880). The results showed that self-esteem had a negative effect on loneliness (β = –0.283, p < .001) and loneliness had a positive effect on quarter-life crisis (β = 0.313, p < .001). Self-esteem also has a direct effect on reducing quarter-life crisis (β = 0.082, p = .035). In addition, loneliness was found to mediate the effect of self-esteem on quarter-life crisis (β = –0.089, p < .001). These findings indicate that the higher the self-esteem of students, the lower the level of loneliness and quarter-life crisis they experience.
Erika Putri Aprilia, Zaki Nur Fahmawati Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/191 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Unveiling the Psychological Pathway From Gratitude to Job Satisfaction in Working Students https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/252
The phenomenon of students studying while working is increasingly common, influenced by economic factors, the desire to gain experience, and the use of free time. This study aims to examine the relationship between gratitude and job satisfaction, with spiritual intelligence as a mediating variable among part-time working students. A quantitative correlational approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 368 part-time working students selected through cluster sampling across five faculties. Statistical mediation analysis was performed using PROCESS Macro Model 4, with a bootstrapping procedure of 5.000 resamples. The results of the bootstrap-based mediation analysis indicated that gratitude had a significant total effect on job satisfaction (c = 0.622, SE = 0.030, p < .001, 95% CI [0.562, 0.683]). After including spiritual intelligence as a mediator, gratitude remained a significant predictor of job satisfaction (c' = 0.407, SE = 0.053, p < .001, 95% CI [0.302, 0.511]), indicating partial mediation. Furthermore, gratitude showed a significant indirect effect on job satisfaction through spiritual intelligence (ab = 0.215, BootSE = 0.061, 95% CI [0.088, 0.325]). The proportion mediated analysis indicated that spiritual intelligence accounted for 34.5% of the total effect, suggesting that it partially mediates the relationship between gratitude and job satisfaction. However, due to the cross-sectional nature of the data, these findings cannot be interpreted as a causal relationship but rather reflect statistical associations among the variables within the context of the study.
Nurul Aini, Maharani Tyas Budi Hapsari Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Sains Psikologi https://journal-fppsi.um.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/252 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000
